I worked onboard ODW3 when it was still a relatively new boat. The cruising plans were great and we covered a lot of miles in the year I was working onboard. Since I left, the boat has continued to cruise around the world - as was always planned. The crew accommodation was comfortable however when the owner brought all of his staff it suddenly got quite cramped. No crew gym however we were able to use the guest gym when it was free. During my time onboard, the boat was heavily used with not much time in between guest trips. I guess that was due to it being a new toy for the owner. Being fresh to the industry at the time I didn’t know any different however now looking back at that season…it was busy! Maybe things have calmed down now. The owner and guests were always very friendly and pleasant with me. Often he would let the crew go up in the helicopter. Flying around Capri and Ibiza was a surreal experience. The crew while I was there were all legends - very professional but also great to spend time with outside work hours. Sadly I don’t believe any of them are still working onboard. Overall I had a great first year in the industry onboard ODW3 - I gained a lot of useful experience that helped me progress in my yachting career.
